The Institute of International Politics and Economics published in 1996 the first English edition of this chronology under the title "Yugoslav Crisis and the World - Chronology of Events: January 1990 - December 1995". It covers the events within the territory of the former SFR Yugoslavia and reactions of the international community to the crisis since its onset in 1990 up to December 1995. The roots of the Yugoslav crisis can be traced to many dates in the recent and distant past. We thought, however, that it would be useful to offer the readers the chronology starting from that year, because this relatively short period in historic proportions abounds in events that directly caused the breakdown of the SFR Yugoslavia and led to war and destruction in some of its parts. All the problems caused by the crisis, war and disintegration of SFR Yugoslavia have not been solved yet, of course. It covers the events within the territory of the former SFR Yugoslavia and reactions of the international community to the crisis since its onset in 1990 up to December 1995. The roots of the Yugoslav crisis can be traced to many dates in the recent and distant past. We thought, however, that it would be useful to offer the readers the chronology starting from that year, because this relatively short period in historic proportions abounds in events that directly caused the breakdown of the SFR Yugoslavia and led to war and destruction in some of its parts. All the problems caused by the crisis, war and disintegration of SFR Yugoslavia have not been solved yet, of course. However, the signing of the General Framework Agreement for Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Paris Conference on the 14 December 1995 marks the end of the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the beginning of the peace process in this part of the Balkan. That was the main reason why we then decided to complete the work on the Chronology with the 31 December 1995. As the first edition of the Chronology has been sold out, the Institute decided to publish the second English and the first Serbian edition of this book. We think that this kind of documentation could be useful not only to those interested in learning more about the processes taking place in this part of the Balkans, but also as a guideline for the future research of the tempestuous and tragic period in the history of the former Yugoslavia.
