A Picture Book to Remember Her By
Over 135 Color Photographs
Wisconsin, one of the most appealing vacation states
of the U.S A., displays a magnificent and varied range
of majestic scenery — from undulating landscapes in
the south to densely forested regions in its northern
border. Crystal clear lakes and streams provide
outstanding opportunities for fishing and canoeing,
and with the unique Door County peninsula, lovely

Discovered by Jean Nicolet as he searched for the
fabled Northwest Passage to China, its early history
was closely associated with the lucrative fur-trapping
trade; and with developments in lead mining,
lumbering and diversified farming and dairying, the
state flourished.
From the frontier came tales of the legendary
Paul Bunyan, the mythical, gigantic lumberjack who
was said to have fashioned Wisconsin's topography
and, aided by his redoubtable ox, Blue Babe, and
Johnny Inkslinger, sheared the state of its virgin
timber.
Today this progressive state maintains an excellent
balance between its important manufacturing interests,
agricultural industries and tourism, whilst its well-
planned cities, such as Madison, the state capital, and
Milwaukee, the commercial hub, are also noted for
their fine, cultural institutions.
Many of the state's most noted features, including
the picturesque Dells region of the Wisconsin River;
the majestic north lakes region; Door County; the
historic town of Little Norway in the "Valley of the
Elves"; thickly carpeted forests, and the famous
Wisconsin Rapids, are superbly displayed within this
book and confirm the appeal of this fascinating state. Vissza
