A former codirector of the Stanford University Sleep Disorders Clinic, Dr. Coleman has worked as a consultant on shift-work, chronobiology, and performance with the Chevron Corporation, Conoco, Inc., and Procter and Gamble and has been a professional adviser on similar projects to the United States Olympic Committee. In August, 1984, Dr. Coleman led a team of American psychologists on a visit to the Soviet Union for the purpose of exchanging information on treatment for sleep disorders with Soviet scientists.
