This is the 11 th colour book by James Siers. It is his first on his adopted city. He saw Wellington first in November 1944 as a child refugee, brought here at the invitation of the then Prime Minister, Peter Frazer, with 700 other Polish children from a camp in Persia. He was nine years old at the time, and recalls the vivid impression made by the green hills. In 1950, his father, who had come to New Zealand from Britain after being demobilised from the Polish Army, which was attached to the British forces in the Middle-East and then in Italy, sent him to Saint Patrick's College, Silverstream. In 1955, James joined The Dominion as a budding journalist and began a long working association with the City of Wellington. In 1962, he became a reporter for the NZBC and in 1967 left to become a free-lance writer, photographer and film maker.
