In 1911, at the age of twenty-one, Carl Weber left his Bavarian homeland, came to the United States and began a career which led to his emergence as the foremost pipe maker in America. When he began in the briar pipe industry in America, it was a mass production business turning out inexpensive utility pipes. In 1938 Mr. Weber förmed his own pipe manufacturing company, Weber Briars, Inc., which continues to operate under his personal supervision. His greatest contribution has been the introduction of Old World hand crafted techniques and skills that produce truly fine pipes. His firm is the only factory in America organized to produce fine pipes according to the English system. This, coupled with his tireless attention to detail and dedication of purpose, has earned Carl Weber the respect of pipe smokers throughout the world. Vissza
