about the editors . . .
Alfred V. Persson is Head of the Department of Peripheral Vascular Surgery and Director of the Peripheral Vascular Laboratory at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Buriington, Massachusetts, where he has served since 1976. Prior to this he was in private practice in Dallas, Texas, as well as in the^U.S. Air Force Medical Corps. The author or coauthor of 77 articles and book chapters, he has organized and edited several recent volumes of Surgical Clinics of North America, He is a member of the Intemational Society for Cardiovascular Surgery, Society for Vascular Surgery, and American College of Surgeons. Dr. Persson received the M.D. degree from McGill University School of Medicine in Montreal, Canada.
Paul A. Skudder, Jr. is a member of Williamstown Medical Associates in Williamstown, Massachusetts, and of the Department of Surgery at North Adams Regional Hospital in North Adams, Massachusetts. Previously, he served as assistant professor of surgery at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland, as well as staff vascular surgeon at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Washington, D.C. He is the author or coauthor of over ten articles and book chapters on vascular surgery and other subjects. He is an associate member of the Chesapeake Vascular Society, a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery, and a candidate of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Skudder received the B.A. degree (1975) in biology from Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts, and M.D. degree (1979) from Cornell University Medical College in New York: City.
