Peter Potschner, Ph. D., Hofrat, Provincial Curator of Vienna from 1969 to 1990, born in Vienna in 1924. After studies in the History of Art he became curator of the Historical Museum of the City of Vienna and was appointed to the Federal Board of Monuments in 1968. Decorated with the Cross of Honour for Science and the Arts, 1st Class, the Medal of Honour of the City of Vienna in gold, the Cross of a Grand Officer of the Papal Order of Sylvester.
Numerous publications on the history of Viennese art and culture.
Peter Potschner describes Vienna's development from Roman times, when the legionary camp of Vindo-bona was constructed in AD 100, to the present. 130 colour photographs — most of them taken exclusively for this book during the last twelve months — show the most outstanding cultural monuments from the major eras of the city's...
