Personal experience gained in planning power stations and industrial plants as well as in scientific research work have induced the author to write a comprehensive work on the manifold theoretical and practical problems of machine- and turbine foundations exposed to dynamie stresses and on the dynamie problems in civil engineering, taking in consideration the latest achievements in science. The work includes the theory of vibrations, the analysis and measuring of dynamie stress of soils, the structural deseription and vibration analysis of foundations for hammers, for reciprocating engines, for turbines and other machines, the methods and equipments for the elimination of vibrations, dynamics of buildings, of bridges and hydraulic structures. Detailed numerical examples are presented for cases most frequently encountered in practice.
