ABOUT THE AUTHOR
While Robert L. Heilbroner's books have been translated into a dozen different languages including Arabic, his own efforts have been successfully focused on translating Economics into American English. The Making of Economic Society (approximately half a million copies now in print) has been described by Dudley Dillard as "the best book I know for use as an introduction to a course in either Principles of Economics or Economic History at the freshman and sophomore levels." (Journal of Economic History, June, 1963). Dr. Heilbroner is a member of the Graduate Faculty at the New School for Social Research, but he is more widely known for The Worldly Philosophers, other distinguished books and articles, his lectures, and his appearances on TV and radio.
