After studying Fine Arts Giancarlo Gasponi devoted himself to painting for a long time. His first venture into photography was taking photographs for an audiovisual programme on the history of ancient art which he devised himself and which is still used in various European museums and universities.
In collaboration with Rouhyeh Avaregan he has published a number of photography books on Italian regions and cities which have not only been highly appreciated but have also been long sellers both in Italy and abroad. Rome Revealed is Gasponi's first publication in which he introduced a new and original style to capture the multi-faceted reality of this city. After ten years from its publication it still is a best seller among the photography books on Rome.
