The combination of a contemporary Lama's meditations and an earlier great master's explanations provides a unique blend of the oral and written traditions of Tibetan Buddhism on the principal motivation for enlightenment- compassionate commitment to others' welfare. Shining with the sun of Buddha's teaching reflected so brightly in snowy Tibet, these practices vividly portray the profound altruism that is at the heart of Buddhism. The translator, Jeffrey Hopkins, is Associate Professor of Buddhist Studies and Director of the Center for South Asian Studies at the University of Virginia. He is co-author of Practice and Theory of Tibetan Buddhism and Death, Intermediate State, and Rebirth in Tibetan Buddhism. Vissza
