Transition report 2006 The Transition Report offers an in-depth analysis of economic progress in 29 countries from central Europe to central Asia, including, for the first time, Mongolia. Drawing on the EBRD's experience as one of the largest investors in the transition region, the Report provides comprehensive analysis of the transition from central planning to markét economies. The thematic focus of this year's Transition Report is the financial sector. Making use of several unique data sources, the Report looks at how financial systems in the transition countries have been restructured over the past 15 years, their impact on the economy and priváté sector development and the introduction of new financial services. In particular, the Report looks at the performance of banks, the types of customers they lend to and how this is affected by changes in the legal and institutional framework.
