The choice of topic originates from the commitment of the Pázmány Péter Catholic University to the European cause and particularly the commitment of the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences, which, since its foundation in 1996, has been aimed at promoting the study and diffusion of European Law through meetings and exchange programmes with universities, professors and practitioners from all over Europe. The Conference analysed in depth the issue of European Corporate Taxation and its relation to the wider issues of justice, society and economic development. With the preeminent contributions of Prof. Giampaolo Corabi, Mr Scott Crosby, Prof. Franco Paparella and Mr Tamás Őry, as well as the honorific presence of the EU Commissioner for Taxation and Customs... This book is the resuit of the comprehensive scientific work that led to the Conference "Towards a European Corporate Income Tax Law System" held on 12 May 2006 in the John Paul II Hall of the Pázmány Péter Catholic University. Franco Paparella and Mr Tamás Őry, as well as the honorific presence of the EU Commissioner for Taxation and Customs Union, Mr László Kovács, the Conference served as an important opportunity for discussion and an exchange of views. By publishing the proceedings of the Conference we attempt to further the study of European Corporate Tax Law. In this context, the examination of tax law from a European perspective must consider the relationship that connects companies not only to their State of residence, but alsó to Europe, a Europe driven by the need for multinational relations and that hopefully can act as a common basis for all legal systems.
