A new approach to language learning
DTom Hutchinson teaches at Lancaster University in the Institute for English Language Education, where he is mainly concerned with teacher training courses.
Tom Hutchinson taught in schools for a number of years and has given teacher training seminars in many countries around the world. In 1986 he was awarded the Duke of Edinbürgh's English Language prize for Project English.
Tom Hutchinson is married and has four children.

Project English is a beginner's course in English for learners in the 11-14 age group.
Its key features are:
A grammar based analytical approach. Grammar is treated as a problem-solving activity, and the pupils are treated as thinkers who are guided to work out the rules of grammar for themselves.
Project work. Through project work, pupils are given the opportunity to talk and write about their own life, and to relate language to their experience.
