Fülszöveg

Three-dimensional cumputer graphics is a relatively new, but rspidly evolving field of computer science. What it basically aims to do is to generate, realistically and efficiently, real world images on a computer screen. Realistic image generation requires the understanding of the behavior of light and its interaction with surfaces possessing various optical properties. Until now physical and geometric optics concerned these problems, and they had a significant effect on computer graphics as well. Efficiency means the fast generation of computer synthesized images allowing for interactive manipulation and real-time animation. Computer graphics systems generate continuous images by digital methods where the theory of signals and measurements has made advances. Thus, computer graphics has been a mixture of different fields of sciences. This book is intended to synthesize those methods, algorithms, models, etc. that focus on three-dimensional image generation in a theory. The authors... Tovább

The authors have tried to establish a common framework and objectives, and have discussed the problems maintaining as their ultimate goal the establishment of 3D image synthesis as a self-contained field of computer science. The book is useful for university students, researchers and development engineers involved in computer graphics, especially in three-dimensional image synthesis, more generally for all those who may want to contribute to this exciting but by no means easy field of science.
