THEORY OF GRAPHS
Proceedings of the Colloquium held at Tihany, Hungary September 1966
Edited by
P. Erdős and G. Katona
Graph theory is a relatively new branch of mathematics whicli has undergone speedy develop-ment during the past two deead-es. Its methods and results are applied in a great variety of scientific researches; in elec-trical engineering, operation re-search, sociology, etc. often arise problems connected with graph theory. Another reason for the inereasing popularity of graph theory is that its problems are readily understood and its methods quiekly put to use by a relatively large number of scientific workers. In september 1966 the János Bolyai Mathematical Societv organized a Colloquium on Theory of Graphs at Tihany, Hungary. There were 58 parti -cipants at the Colloquium, 32 of thern from abroad. Austria, Canada, Czechoslovakia, Germán Demoeratic Republic, Germán Federal Republic, Great Britain, Holland, U.S.A., Demoeratic Republic of Vietnam and West Berlin... Tovább

This volume contains 35 lectures delivered during the sessions; topics like limit value problems in graph theory, co-louring problems, the question of embedding of graphs intő different surfaces and appli-cations of algebraic methods in graph theory are discussed.
