This volume explores the diversified appeal of Escher's prints, whose reach spans the fields of mathematics and poetry, science fiction and art history. The five essays, including one by Escher himself, ate unique in that they ore by scientists as well as art historians: G. W. Locher is professor of sociology at the University of Leyden, C. fH. A. Broos is curator of prints at the Gemeentemuseum in The Hague, fH. S. M. Coxeter is professor of mathematics at Toronto University, and J. L.
