Charles Simic, born 1938 in Yugoslavia, is Professor of English at the University of New Hampshire. For his poetry and his literary translations he has won awards from the American Academy of Arts and Letters and the Poetry Society of America, and has received the Edgar Allan Poe Award, the P.E.N. Translation Prize, a Guggenheim Foundation Scholarship, a MacArthur Foundation Fellowship, and, in 1990, the Pulitzer Prize for The World Doesn't...
