Having been a guardian of a democratic and peaceful transformation, the Eastern European voluntary sector is now a significant source of tradition and force for change in most countries in the region strengthening the process of shaping a postcommunist society.
CIVICUS is an international alliance of organizations and individuals to strengthen citizen action and influence throughout the world through voluntary initiatives, philantropy and community service.
CIVICUS is intended to be an international forum in which regional, national and local citizen organizations can exchange knowledge and experience.
