This book offers a detailed
summary of an important and
little-known World War II
army. Hungary, which had lost
67 per cent of its territory after
World War I, was an easy target
for German pressure in the
1930s. Its initial war aims were
limited to recovering its losses,
but after sending a Mobile
Corps to aid the invasion of
the USSR, its troops remained
to occupy the Ukraine, and
during the Stalingrad counter-
offensive their 2nd Army was
crushed. When the Red Army
began to advance, Hungary
was forced onto the defensive,
ending in the ruinous battle for
Budapest. The text is illustrated
with rare wartime photos,
detailed insignia charts, and
colour uniform plates.
