The Practice of English Language Teaching
This new edition of The Practice of English Language Teaching has been written to take account of changes in the concerns of methodologists, applied linguists and teachers since the first edition of the book was published. The examples of teaching materials have been updated and the book now includes a chapter on teaching vocabulary and sections on discovery techniques, task-based syllabuses, learner training and the use of the mother tongue. There is an expanded section on teacher roles. Despite these changes and additions, the structure of The Practice of English Language Teaching remains essentially the same:
Part A: Background looks at theoretical concerns which influence the teaching of EFL. Part B: Practice looks at teaching materials and techniques.
Part C: Management and Planning looks at how classrooms and students can best be organised, and examines ways of preparing for lessons.
The Practice of English Language Teaching is full of practical suggestions and samples from actual teaching materials. Each chapter concludes with discussion questions, exercises and references. There is also a bibliography and an appendix on evaluating materials. Vissza
