Gyula Kállai played a leading role in the organizaron of the people's front movement which united the anti-fascist forces in Hungary. He held several ministerial offices before becoming prime minister of Hungary. He has been the chairman of the National Council of the Hungarian People's Front since 1954. This volume is a selection of his studies and lectures: it contains recollections of the évolution of the People's Front, and of the heroic years during and after the war, as well as thorough and thought-provoking articles about the present-day activities of the People's Front. The Hungarian People's Front movement has played a decisive role as the forum for those social strata which, in respect of preserving peace and of the richer and happier perspectives of the Hungarian future, are allies of the most progressive part.
