Fülszöveg

Saccharomyees cerevisiae is an important research tool and industrial reagent. This organism provides the intellectual basis for much of our understanding of the molecular and cellular biology of eukaryotes.
An enormous amount has been discovered since the publication of the first edition of The Metabolism and Molecular Physiology of Saccharomyees cerevisiae. Accordingly, all the chapters have been rewritten, updated and expanded. Two areas of particular growth are ageing and the molecular organization and biogenesis of the cell wall; this second edition has new chapters on each. The contributors are all internationally recognised experts who convey their enthusiasm along with clear coverage of complex fields.
This book is designed to be suitable for both complete newcomers to the field and for yeast researchers wishing to keep abreast of the latest developments.

J. Richard Dickinson is Reader in Yeast Metabolism at Cardiff University in Wales. He is interested in the biochemistry and genetics of metabolism in yeasts and higher plants. A particular interest over recent years has been the catabolism of amino acids to their respective fusel alcohols and the role of fusel alcohols in determining hyphal and pseudohyphal development in yeasts as well as ageing.
Michael Schweizer is Professor of Biochemistry at the School of Life Sciences at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland. His research interests are in lipid and nucleotide metabolism in yeast and diet/gene interaction in mammals. Vissza
