Passover, the Festival of Freedom, has symbolized primarily the personal and national aspiration for liberty and independence ever since the Exodus from Egypt somé 3,300 years ago. In Eretz-Israel and in the Disapora communities throughout the world Jews have read an almost identical version ofthe Passover Haggadah, celebrated the importance of freedom, and bequeathed this tradition to their offspring ("And thou shalt teli thy son"), concluding the prayer with a common wish: "Next year in rebuilt Jerusalem." This special Haggadah is dedicated to the millennia-old national yearning for freedom and renewed independence of Israel, which reached a peak with the establishment of the State of Israel sixty years ago. In this unique copy of the Haggadah the traditional text is accompanied by photographs and images associated with the festival of Passover and the Jews' national and personal freedom: spectacular works of art and folklóré, impressive excerpts from ancient editions, photographs...
