What other river in the world has a history which stretches farther than the river itself, a renown that exceeds its reach, or banks so laden with legends that they obscure its real importance as an artery of water?
Pilgrim, poet, painter and those who find a more private truth in nature-all are drawn to the Jordan's humble, lyrical beauty and held by the aura the river still bears of its miraculous, prophetic past.
Since my early childhood, many years before becoming a photographer, I have explored the river for I, too, am under its spell. No matter what wonders I have seen in distant lands, I always return to the Jordan with love and longing. The Jordan is rather short as rivers go, but I come back again and again and again to photograph its thousand and one faces.
