THE ANANGA RANGA and THE SYMPOSIUM
Distinct from the Kama Sutra, which was written about a thousand years earlier, the Ananga Ranga or, the Hindu Art of Love was composed as a treatise designed to promote sustained physical happiness within marriage. As such it became a classic and was translated into every language of the East which boasts a literature. Feeling convinced that monogamy is a happier state than polygamy, he would save the married couple from the monotony and satiety which follow possession, by varying their pleasures in every conceivable way, and by supplying them with the means of being psychically pure and physically pleasant to each other."
