The GOLEM
invites you to the ghetto of the old Prague, to the city once called
"the mother of Israel". But first of all it is a UNIQUE COLLECTION
OF STORIES about the legendary inhabitants of Prague, about
the golem and his creator, Rabbi Low.
The book is based on rare historical sources.
Eduard Petiska (1924-1987) is one of the best-known Czech
writers. He is the author of numerous works both for the adult
and juvenile reader. Many of his seventy books met with a wide
international acceptance. They have been translated into 27 lan-
guages and published in hundreds of editions abroad. The num-
ber of copies of Petiska's books has exceeded 10 million. "The
Golem" ranks among the author's books devoted to myths and
