THE GNOMOBILE By Upton Sinclair Illustrated by Marcel Tillard Gnomes are very rare these days- which is one of the reasons so few people ever see them. Bobo and his grandfather Glogo, for instance, are the very last members of their tribe of California Redwood gnomes and they are very unhappy to think that their way of life will die with them. Elizabeth and her young uncle Rodney, the unconventional son of a lumber king, befriend the two gnomes and convert the back of Rodney's automobile for their traveling comfort. In the rechristened "Gnomobile" the four set off to search the great national forests for another tribe of gnomes. To protect the little men from curiosity seekers they are carried in a large basket, which Rodney tells reporters contains Abyssinian geese. But this only redoubles the humorous publicity and before long
