The executions and destruction wrought by the Chinese in Tibet in the 1960s and 1970s, when over a million people died, ranks in brutality alongside the Nazis' murder of the Jews in Europe and the genocide of Pol Pot's regime in Cambodia.

The executions and destruction wrought by the Chinese in Tibet in the 1960s and 1970s, when over a million people died, ranks in brutality alongside the Nazis' murder of the Jews in Europe and the genocide of Pol Pot's regime in Cambodia.
At the heart of events as this story unfolded was Tenzin Gyatso, the fourteenth Dalai Lama of Tibet. Despite the desecration of the monasteries and the destruction of everything he held precious, the Dalai Lama has consistently preached peace - to world leaders as well as the Chinese. He still believes that one day the Chinese will treat his people fairly - and works steadfastly to that end.
