ART. MOGER was born and educated in Boston. For more than twenty years he worked as publicity and advertising director for Warner Bros. Pictures in the East, and served in the same role for other major studios after leaving Warners. He is widely esteemed as an articulate and iconoclastic observer of the motion picture industry. In the late 30s, Moger became an overnight success when he appeared on Fred Allen's radio program, "Town Hall Tonight." And his success lasted just as long. Art. admits. "Overnight!"

ART. MOGER
Introduction by BOD and RAY
Art. Moger is a widely known wit and raconteur wiio has been fascinated by the punny style of humor for many years. He claims that his interest in punning was inspired by his six-year-old son, Stanley, who went with his dad to see a Walt Disney film festival. During its showing, the younger Moger got up and started to leave. "Where are you going?" asked Moger senior. "Out," said Stanley. "Why?" queried Art. "Because," replied the six-year-old, "Mickey Mouse gives me Disneyspellsl"
When Moger completed the manuscript of The Complete Pun Book, he went for his annual physical checkup. "You are suffering from paronomasia," said his doctor. "That sounds like an incurable
disease." "It is," replied the doctor seriously.
Paronomasia is a "playing on words: punning." And punning is an incurable disease, as comedians and humorists will attest. Every day newspaper writers, cartoonists, television comedians and people of all ages use puns, intentionally or not. Punning has been called the lowest form of wit. A punster's retort: "Why not? It is the foundation of all wit!"
Moger has devoted many years to collecting his material, and has tapped hundreds of sources. The book is not a dictionary of puns from Aarkvard to Zyzzva; rather it is a collection of the punniest jokes that the author has either told or heard or read during his laughtime of entertaining. In addition the book offers expert observations about punning from the facile pens of such luminaries as Louis Untermeyerj Edwin C. Newman, Willard R. Espy, and John Skow, among others. The introduction is by those zanies of radio and television. Bob and Ray. The book is truly a work of "Art." (Pun intended.)
If you've never been a victim of paronomasia, we guarantee that you will be after reading The Complete Pun Book. It's possible that we'll have you by the jocular vein!
