—JOHN PERKINS, author of Confessions of an economic 9íit Man
"The Bush Agenda is essential reading for anyone bewildered by the president's reckless pursuit of foreign policies so harmful to the values, the economic interest, and the security of the American people. Juhasz lucidly lays out the reasons, combining solid analysis and data with vivid, if infuriating, illustrations of where the Bush Agenda's adherents want to take our country."
—CONGRESSMAN JOHN CONYERS, Jr.
"The Bush Agenda lays out the 'noble cause' for which George Bush asked our sons and daughters to give their lives: to open Jraq to United States corporate control. All potential military recruits should read this book and then decide if Halliburton and Chevron are worth fighting for."
—CINDY SHEEHAN, Peace Mom
"The corporationSy the neoconservatives, and the Qeorge W. ^ush administration are three interlocking groups with fluid demarcations. Iraq represents several things to these players: oil wealth, regional power, and global power. Iraq presents them with the first opportunity for a truly imperial invasion. . . . [S^nd] as President ^ush has repeatedly said, Iraq is only the beginning."
—from The ^ush S^genda
In this important book, renowned international trade and finance policy expert Antónia Juhasz exposes a radical corporate globaUzation agenda more befitting of a ruthless empire than a world leader of democracy. This agenda has been refined by leading members and allies of the Bush administration over decades and has reached its most aggressive implementation under George W. Bush. And Bush Agenda adherents hope it will outlast him.
Juhász uncovers the history and key role of United States corporations in the creation of this agenda— focusing on Bechtel, Lockheed Martin, Chevron, and Halliburton—as well as its roots in the policies of the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, and the World Trade Organization. Then, presenting the Iraq War as the agenda's most brutal application to date. Juhasz reveals exactly how the administration—using corporate globalization as a weapon of war—has fundamentally transformed Iraq's economy, locked in sweeping advantages to its corporate allies, and expanded its target to the whole Middle East.
Juhasz brings to sharp focus the dangerous fallacy that the United States can combat terrorism and spread democracy through its so-called "free trade" policies, which are allowing the world's largest corporations to earn vast wealth for a few elite players at the expense of entire populations. The result has been dislocation, extreme poverty, and increased violence and terrorism worldwide.

The good news, Juhász asserts, is that there are many alternatives to the Bush Agenda. People around the world arc already working hard to reverse its devastating impacts and have even achieved significant victories, but we must all help to steer the United States on a more positive, sustainable course for the future. Extensively researched and highly engaging. The Bush Agenda is a brilliant, informative analysis, revealing the hard truths about where the Bush administration and its corporate allies are leading the modern world—and what we can do about it.
ANTÓNIA JUHASZ is a leading expert on international trade and finance policy with a master s degree in Public Policy from Georgetown University. She has served as a congressional aide and as the project director of the International Forum on Globalization. She is currently a visiting scholar with the Institute for Policy Studies in Washington DC. An award-winning writer, her work has appeared in dozens of publications, including the Los Angeles Times and Miami Heraldy and she has appeared on CBS News, CNN, Hannity & ColmeSj Washington Journal, and NPR's Talk of the Nation.
