words, spoken by a business associate of
Mr. Bobbsey, sent the two pairs of lively
twins into an exciting adventure involving
a plot to steal the Crown Jewels from the
Tower of London.
It may have been ill-luck for Silver
Smitty, a famous jewel thief, to have sailed
on the same ship with the Bobbseys, but it
was fast thinking by Nan and Bert which
finally delivered the criminal into the hands
of the London police.
But London provided more than mys-
tery. There the twins met Gail and Gavin
Radford, two English youngsters who had
just returned from a tour of the United
States. Gail and Gavin took the Bobbseys
to see an old castle that might have been
the model for the miniature castle the
twins had built for the children's hospital
in Lakeport.
As usual, there was never a dull moment
when Flossie and Freddie, and Nan and
Bert explored new territory. This time
