Giving an outline of the work that Is earned out in a well-equipped analytical chemistry laboratory, this book is written to give students an idea of the way in which a modern analyst tackies his problems. It deals with the developrhent of every important analytical technique ^ and its use in well-equipped laboratories at the present time. They are described in such a way as to make clear their potentialities, ThB book is presented in two pârts, the first dealinig with methods that are essentially chemical and the second covering physical methods. The author has presented his material in an attractive and interesting manner; i.e., the general description, the intentional omission, of practical details, the historical outline and the insertion of a few words on the economic aspect of the work. This will make the book more interesting not only to students, and to chemists in other branches of thé profession, but also to analytical chemists.

Formerly Analytical Group Manager, Imperial Chemical Industries Limited, Billingham Division; and later Agricultural Division, the author has had considerable experience of the activities that he describes. He is a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chemistry, and ^ was a nnember of its Council from ;1945-f947, and from 1949-1952. ,He wasExaminetfor the;Fellowship itn AnalytjcarQhemjst^fi'om 1943-^1949.
