Better manuals and textbooks, different teaching methods, holidays abroad, broadcasting for schools, language laboratories—all these and other developments have done and will continue to do much to promote the learning of foreign languages—and to the many good reasons for earning a language is now added an economic and business one. But valuable and important as recent aids to teaching undoubtedly are, there is still use for a solid foundation of grammatical knowledge. It is the purpose of Teach Yourself French to provide this.
