This book presents the Proceedings and Final Report of the Colloquium on Stability of Steel Structures held in Tihany, Hungary, on September 25-26,1986.
One hundred papers have been contributed by European, American, Australian and Japanese engineers and researchers concerned with a wide range of applications of stability problems.
The aim of the colloquium was to bring together specialists in the stability of steel structures, as well as to provide a forum for the exchange of information on the stability of structures in the post-buckling state, to evaluate and discuss recent advances in the theoretical foundations, experimental investigations and methods, and to promote further development.
— Highlights of the volumes: Design theories and the present phase of creating new standards and codes.
— Theoretical and experimental problems of buckling of columns and lateral buckling of beams.
— The stability of steel frames and trusses, and the effects of semi-rigid connections.

— Highlights of the volumes: Design theories and the present phase of creating new standards and codes.
— Theoretical and experimental problems of buckling of columns and lateral buckling of beams.
— The stability of steel frames and trusses, and the effects of semi-rigid connections.
— Numerous new results achieved in the field of plate and box girders, shells and thin-walled structures.
In each subject the papers are summarized in a General Report by an authority, giving the state-of-the-art of research programme.
This edition providing an international approach to the stability of steel structures will be a useful addition to research achieved in this field, and a tribute to Professor Ottó Halász.
