form a two year course for young
intermediate learners of English. It
is a rewarding course for those
who wish to adopt a
communicative methodology.
Springboard 1 aims to provide the
learners with the skills needed to
communicate in situations outside
the classroom. It does this through
authentic oral and written
communication tasks, often based
on the information gap principle,
and also by confronting the 1
students with authentic materials {
taken from everyday British life
(e.g. instructions for using the
telephone, information on Post
Office rates, accommodation, etc.).
At the same time the students learn
to convey facts and ideas about
their own culture and to write
personal letters.

seventeen units based on topics.
