Speak Up is intended to help advanced students develop their oral fluency in English and to overcome any shyness or reserve they may feel in speaking the language. The book is made up of dialogues which concentrate on subjects of real and varied interest, e.g. Astrology, Bureaucracy, Music, Pollution, Telepathy. Modern techniques are employed such as group work, case studies, role playing, debating and sophisticated games. Chapters begin with the dialogue which provides information on which to base class discussion, accompanied by guidance on conducting further discussions on related themes.
