Often called the father of Existentialism, Kierkegaard was a man whose ideas and precepts were far ahead of his time, both in Denmark and in Europe generally. Like Nietzsche, he was one of the first 'modern' thinkers to break away from the long-established traditions of European philosophic thought. At the same time it describes the formative influences and main events of his life; with delicacy and perception the author throws fresh light on the enigmatic personal crisis... Tovább

At the same time it describes the formative influences and main events of his life; with delicacy and perception the author throws fresh light on the enigmatic personal crisis which influenced all Kierkegaard's life and work.
Professor Grimsley is Head of the French Department at Bristol University and the author of several books, among them Existential Thought, Selren Kierlcegaard and French Literature and Jean-Jacques Rousseau: a study in seif-awareness.
