He has, as a result of his extensive travels, shown hunting, fishing, and the collecting of guns in a multitude of countries, outlining the methods, showing the ways, and often reporting as a participant. He was the first private citizen of th» West to go hunting in East Germany.

He has successfully broadened the domain in which sportsmen function, adding extensively to their knowledge, showing each to the other, transcending borders and boundaries, and has therefore made a real and important contribution. Sportsmen wish to know about each other, and have between them an international and universal language which all may speak together. This book is that spokesman.
The approach adopted looks at Field Sport and related activities as beneficial and considers the action most expedient to its furtherance. It seeks to protect the sportsman, to advise him as well as to entertain him. In this era, those who wish to use the land for their pleasure are coming under continuously more pressure - as resources are reduced and the number wishing to share them, increases.
