SHOOTING-WHY WE MISS Macdonald Hastings
This book is dedicated to answering the simple but profound question: 'Why do we miss?' It is addressed mainly to the keen shot whose form is not as good as it might be, or perhaps not as good as it used to be.
The book relies a great deal on a question and answer form of instruction. Some of the questions may appear a trifle odd, for example: 'Do you play golf?' In fact the balance, timing, and judgement of distance which are essential to a good golfer are also essential to the good shot. Chapters are devoted to gun-mounting, know-how in the field, various quarries, care of guns, and temperament. The emphasis is equally divided between the personality of the man behind the gun and the 'physical' drill of handling the gun.
All the important points are illustrated by line drawings and observations well worth remembering are emphasised using axioms, many of which deserve placing on the walls of gunrooms.
