Conversations with Teachers of Torah in Jerusalem
This book is a collection of interviews with twenty distinguished teachers of Judaism, with a special focus on the con-cept of Avodat Hashem (the service of God) and its meaning for the modern Jew today.
These twenty teachers include rab-bis, educators, philosophers, and authors who have dedicated their lives to incul-cating the teachings of the Torah into the lives of modern Jews. Shalom Freedman, author of Life as Creatioit: A Jewisb Way of Thinkmtj about the World, conducted each interview in the inspir-ing climate of Jerusalem — the learning capital of the Jewish people — and the greater surrounding area, where he dis-covered a wealth of individuals and insti-tutions who are cultivating the intellec-tual and spiritual growth of Judaism.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Shalom (Seymour) Freedman is a Jewish thinker and poet who has lived and worked in Israel for more than twenty years. He holds a doctorate in English and American literature írom Cornell University and has, in the years of his aliyah, devoted himself to Jewish learn-ing in the Holy City, Yerushalayim. A contributor to a variety of Jewish publi-cations, he has published three other books, the most recent of which is Life as Creation: A Jewish Way of Thinking about the World.
