Sexpionage-the exploitation of sex in espionage^ Over the last twenty years the Russians have been responsible for transforming traditional be-tween-the-sheets methods a la Mata Han to a cruel, sordid, and dangerous industry.
Nowadays sexpionage manipulates the most basic human desire in order to subvert otherwise honorable individuals. They are drawn into lives of treachery which often end in broken marriages and careers, imprisonment, and frequently suicide or murder.
The Soviet KGB utilizes all the new technology : transmitters so unbelievably small they can be strapped to the back of a fîy; miniature TV cameras no more than three inches square; light-intensification lenses that enable pictures to be taken by starlight, and other ultramodern equipment. This technology is accompanied by a carefully planned program of selective recruitment and vigorous training.
The success record has been sensational; the Soviets have penetrated NATO completely, and pinpointed weapons stores, missile and radar sites, command bunkers, and communication centers. Other spectacular coups include :
• a setup for a French ambassador to Moscow with an eye for a pretty woman
• the piecemeal theft of some 3,000 secret documents by a Bonn secretary at the instigation of her seducer, a Russian-trained agent, documents that included advance warnings of almost every West German counterintelligence operation against Russian spies
• the subversion of the deputy chief of SHAPE'S logistics division
• the homosexual setup and subsequent blackmail of John Vassall, of the secretariat of the British naval staff, who for six years fed the Russians with the latest developments in radar and sonar research and fleet operational orders.
This controversial, enormously readable book is the first detailed exposé of the subject, crammed with revelation after revelation of the melodramatic brutal world of sexpionage.

The
Exidoitation«/ ^ oîSexby^"^^ Soviet Intelligence
by David Lewis
One of England's leading investigative reporters relates the complete and hair-raising story of Soviet Russia's KGB in action: its swallows (trained female operatives) and ravens (trained male prostitutes, sometimes homosexual); the degrading training course, designed to strip pupils of every sexual inhibition; the headquarters, Number Two Dzerzhinsky Square, Moscow; today's amazing sophisticated equipment; the special apartments and hotel bedrooms throughout Moscow and other major Russian cities fitted with hidden photographic and electronic equipment triggered to operate automatically.
«Sexpionage should be required reading for all who deal with the Soviets; Lewis has produced a convincing exposé of how the Russians combine the two oldest professions to strip the West of every secret. His chilling conclusion should shock even the most sophisticated."
—Lyman B. Kirkpatrick, Jr.
