LEONARD COTTRELL published the first of his famous archaeoiogical books, THE LOST PHARAOHS, in 1949 and followed it with numerous others about the Ancient Civilisations of Greece, Crete, Egypt and the Near East. His passionate interest in Archaeology began as a boy of twelve and has taken him on extensive travels. From 1952 to 1959 he was on the staff of the B.B.C. as war correspondent, documentary writer and drama producer, and now he combines freelance television work with writing books.
