Praiseforjonathan Scott'sprevious books: 'Jonathan Scott understands the animals he photographs so well that it is as though he has entered their minds and can see the world as they do. Only by doing that - plus endless patience and inexhaustible energy - is it possible to produce a full and intimate record of an animal's life.' Praiseforjonathan Scott'sprevious books: 'Jonathan Scott understands the animals he photographs so well that it is as though he has entered their minds and can see the world as they do. Only by doing that - plus endless patience and inexhaustible energy - is it possible to produce a full and intimate record of an animal's life.' Sir Dávid Attenborough 'Somé of his photographs are quite astonishing and clearly the result of years of waiting for the right moment.' African Safari magaziné When Jonathan Scott first came to live in Africa twenty years ago, he found that most of the anirnal guide books restricted themselves to describing the animal and its habitat, while he was more interested in knowing details of the animal's behaviour. He didn't just want to know where an animal lived, he wanted to know how it lived; he alsó wanted quick answers to such questions as how tall or heavy it was, what it ate, what its gestation period was, how many young it gave birth to at a time, and how long it lived. Ever since then, he has heard visitors ask their safari drivers or tour guides the same questions. It was with this in mind that he compiled his own guide book entitled Know Kenya 's Animals, first published in 1985, now revised and greatly expanded by Angéla Scott, and completely reillustrated with Jonathan's superb photographs. Jonathan Scott's Safari Guide to East African Animals describes over 80 species, beginning each entry with a 'fact file' and following this with information on Identification, Voice, Habitat, Habits, Reproduction, Food and Predation. Somé 250 photographs have been chosen with a view to making identification as easy as possible while emphasizing the beauty of the animal and illustrating aspects of its behaviour. This book is dedicated to Jonathan and Angela's children, Alia and Dávid, who have shared their joy in experiencing the wonder of Africa's wild places. Vissza
