" It is wild, irrational, weird, insane, tragic and
funny as hell San Francisco Examiner
" Satire it definitely is, also a mixture of the
wildly funny and the sad, the weird and the
familiar. It is, in short, dementia. Whose —we
must ask-one man's or the world's?"
Boston Evening Globe
Feeding Hills, New Hampshire. A quiet town
warm and green in summer, white and glittering
in winter. Did we say "quiet"? Hardly true. You see,
the town has this postmaster, Hugh Smith-Regan,
who sleeps under a folded American flag and who
keeps plaster flamingos, ducks, and rabbits on the

Victory Among the Insane is a crazy, hilarious
satire that tangles with God, the United States
Post Office, patriotism, and sex with style and
verve. Perhaps, as one critic suggested, it should
be called "Catch-22 Visits New Hampshire." Per-
haps it is simply "victory among the insane."
