This total quality concept, starting with procurement, is the theme of Buying Quality — a step-by-step program to coordinate efforts and functions of quality control engineers, purchasing managers, and their suppliers to ensure that the basic materials meet the highest standards.
Special emphasis is given to internally established specifications as well as external source selection and supplier evaluation.

ABOUT THE AUTHORS
Ross Johnson has held engineering and managerial positions at Westinghouse Electric, Martin Marietta, General Electric and Magnavox. A past member of the General Technical Council of The American Society for Quality Control, he now heads the Management and Marketing Department of James Madison University.
Richard T. Weber has 21 years of quality control experience — including ten years of reliability, engineering and manufacturing responsibility in both low and mass production environments. Currently he is Manager of Relay Quality Control and Engineering Services for Genicom Corporation in Waynesboro, Virginia.
