William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon in April, 1564. In March of 1592, the Lord Strange's players produced a new
play at the Rose theatre entitled Harry the Sixth. This play was probably the First Part of Henry VI. Shakespeare's fame and wealth grew. A few years later, he was able to participate financially in the construction of a new playhouse called the Globe, on the south bank of the Thames. By the summer of 1598 he was recognized as the greatest of English dramatists. Shakespeare died at Stratford-upon-Avon on 23rd April 1616.
