It has been carefully up-dated to take account of the major changes in the city since the first edition of the guide was published i n 1971. Most notable among the innovationsarethe Ethnological Missionary Museum, the Historical Museum, and the Museum of Modern Religious Art, al! of which have opened recently in the Vatican. The practical information section about such matters as public transport, hotels, and restaurants has been revised where necessary to ensure that the visitor to Romé will be able to find his way about the city with ease. The Guide, arranged in routes designed to be accomplished on foot, will be found even more useful now that most of the historic centre ofthe city has been closed to motor traffic.
