Romania, with its well-deserved reputation as the Land of Wine, is gaining ever-greater renown in the international wine market. Valeriu V. Cotea, bom in Jassy in 1960, is one of Romania's leading experts in oenology. Besides his university career, he has undertaken extensive activity within the framework of the Centre for Oenoiogical Research in Jassy. He is the author and co-author of 236 titles, and 136 scientific works in the field of oenology and viticulture, published in specialist reviews in Romania and abroad. Currently, he represents Romania as an expert in the International Organisation ofVine and Wine (OIV). Between 2001 and 2006, he was president of the International Code of Oenoiogical Practices group of experts, and since 2007 he has been president of the Specifications of Oenoiogical Products group of experts. Since 2001, he has been a member of the OIV Scientific and Technical Committee.
in Romania, he is a member of the National Office of Vine and Wine, the Romanian Horticultural Society, and the Romanian Association of Authorised Wine Tasters (ADAR).
In recognition of his academic work, he has been elected a corresponding member of the Romanian Academy of Agricultural and Silvicultural Sciences (ASAS), a corresponding member of the Swiss Academy of Wine, a corresponding member of the Italian Academy of Wine, and a member of the International Society for Horticultural Science.
Likewise, he is a member of the editorial board of the Mitteilungen Klosterneuburg horticultural and viticultural review (Austria) and foreign correspondent for Revue des Oenologues (France). He participates as a jury member at international wine competitions. Vissza
