RODIN
is one of the greatest sculptors of all time. His fame is equal to that of Michelangelo. His life was an unceasing fight to open up new directions for modern sculpture. Most of the artistic movements of the twentieth century have their origin in his work. Towards the end of his life, Rodin appealed to the young in these moving terms: "The battle must go on."
The first chapter is entitled Rodin's Struggle. It relates the war he had to wage for the freedom of the artist and for boldness in creation. The second chapter deals with The Artist, his Life and Work. The most significant events in his artistic activity are set out in a Chronology. His finest sculptures are reproduced. The book, distributed in 74 countries, met with a very enthusiastic reception from the Press.
